REF: 2153

Outstanding Late Victorian English river harvest landscape.

John Horace Hooper lived in London. Landscape painter. English School. A prolific artist evidenced by the frequent appearance of his work in the salerooms. He painted in a broad realistic style similar to that of Kinnaird. He made his debut at Suffolk Street between 1877 and 1878. Exhibited at The Royal Academy, The Royal Hibernian Academy, and The Walker Gallery in Liverpool. Often painted scenes of countryside around Surrey and Sussex.

This example is a particularly fine painting by the artist. He has captured the balance between the landscape, figures, river, and sky with great skill and has produced a very desirable landscape.

The painting has been framed in a Vintage English handmade Swept style frame.
